At Porter’s, we know that when our community includes students with a range of diverse backgrounds and lived experiences, it produces a richer, more inclusive learning environment for all of us. We believe we have an obligation to make Porter’s more affordable for a wide range of students, regardless of their families’ financial resources.
Sending a child to Porter’s is a significant investment. That’s why we provide clear, transparent information about the cost of attendance and the full range of financial aid options available. To help families manage the costs of a Porter’s education, need-based financial aid and merit scholarships are thoughtfully allocated to eligible students. We also offer a variety of payment plans and financing options.

To apply for aid, please begin by creating an account on Clarity, our financial aid application platform. Once you’ve created your account, you’ll log in and complete a financial aid application. Clarity pulls verified tax documents directly from the Internal Revenue Service, shortening the process to 20 to 30 minutes.
If you are a new family interested in being considered for need-based financial aid, you must apply by January 15. You’ll be notified of financial aid and scholarship decisions by March 10.
Returning families reapply for financial aid each year their student is enrolled, and should submit their applications by November 1. Returning families can expect to receive their award information with their online enrollment contracts each February.
All incoming students are eligible for merit scholarships. Those who are selected will receive notification of their award with their application decision on March 10.
All new applicants are automatically considered for our prestigious Trustee Scholarship. Recipients demonstrate strong academic achievement as well as significant accomplishments in the arts, athletics, leadership, service, or global citizenship. The award ranges from $5,000 to $20,000 and is renewed annually.
This legacy scholarship is offered to new applicants, celebrating a family tradition of attending Porter’s. Sarah Porter Scholarships are open to children/stepchildren, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and cousins of Ancients. The award is a $5,000 partial tuition scholarship that is renewed annually.
Students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents can apply for aid. Families must file U.S. income taxes to be eligible.
International students are eligible for limited merit awards on a case-by-case basis. Selected applicants may be required to submit financial documentation.
Porter’s calculates financial need by reviewing a family’s IRS tax return from the prior year, financial resources, income statements, and the financial aid application submitted using Clarity. Porter’s financial aid committee reviews this information to determine the total award and family contribution. The committee strives to make fair, equitable and just decisions based on the information provided.
The financial aid committee will accept and review your application for any year that your student is enrolled. However, the financial aid budget is set based on the school’s commitment to fund students already receiving aid.
There are typically limited additional funds in the financial aid budget. It is important to apply for financial aid at the time of the student’s application to Porter’s.
Both households, including stepparents, must complete the financial aid application and provide their tax returns and W-2s.
Yes, parents/guardians will need to provide their business tax returns as well as their personal tax returns and all schedules/forms received.
Families can expect financial aid to continue throughout their student’s enrollment, provided the family continues to demonstrate need. The size of the award can vary due to a family’s financial circumstances and tuition increases.
