Housing & Dining

Learning and self-discovery happen everywhere at Porter’s.

A girl with curly hair sits in an armchair, smiling and holding a colorful card. Behind her is a fireplace and a string of paper decorations hanging above the mantle.

Our residential and dining spaces are built for intellectual collaboration and independent learning—as well as rest, relaxation and fun.

Sometimes the most meaningful discoveries can happen when (and where) you least expect them—sharing a meal with friends, lounging in the dorm, or just hanging out and having fun. The Porter’s campus is packed with comfortable, welcoming spaces where you can focus on your studies but also unwind and spend quality time with friends.

YOUR NEW HOME AWAY FROM HOME

We are committed to creating a healthy and sustainable living environment where everyone can learn, grow, relax and have fun.

A young woman sits on her bed in a yellow-walled room, writing in a notebook with a laptop in front of her. The room has posters, stuffed animals, and sunlight coming in through an arched window.

DORMITORIES

These Victorian-era homes have been converted into eco-friendly and comfortable living spaces with modern amenities like air conditioning, climate control and LED lighting—all while maintaining their historic charm.

Four girls sit and stand on a wooden porch, talking. Two sit on green rocking chairs, one sits on the floor, and one stands by the railing. They wear casual clothes and the background shows trees and houses.

DAY STUDENT LOUNGES

Special lounges for day students provide dedicated spaces for storing belongings, spending time with friends and relaxing in between classes and activities.

Four women sit on a blue couch having a discussion. One holds a pink folder, another writes in a notebook, and two others listen attentively. The setting appears informal and comfortable.

HOUSE DIRECTORS

Dedicated full-time house directors, or “dorm parents,” live and work with students inside each dormitory. These trusted adults teach important life skills while also providing students with mentorship and support.

On-Campus Dining

A typical day at Miss Porter’s School begins in the dining hall in Main—the heart of campus. It’s a communal gathering place where every member of our community can enjoy delicious, healthy food and good conversation. Meals are served buffet-style and feature everything from hot entrees and sides to salads, smoothies, sweet treats and grab-and-go items.

Dietary Restrictions and Safety Measures

Our dining team is mindful of food-related allergies and restrictions. Every day, they cook up a wide variety of meal options that meet common dietary needs and preferences, including vegan, vegetarian, pescatarian, and allergy- and gluten-aware meals.

Built in 1831, the dining hall was recently renovated to preserve its historic roots while adding modern amenities and expanded seating for up to 400 diners.

Our dining team consistently crafts healthy and delicious meals. In 2024, they were recognized with the Compass Group’s Be A Star Award for operational excellence and quality food and service.
A small market features snack shelves, baskets of chips, and drink coolers labeled Starbucks and Pepsi. Bright ceiling lights and a neon sign reading “The Daily Market” illuminate the clean space.
The Daisy Market is a self-service honor market where students can purchase everyday essentials using their student accounts.

Sit-Down Dinners

A long-held tradition at Porter’s, monthly Sit-Down Dinners are formal, family-style meals that bring students and faculty together for meaningful conversation and connection. Hosted by various student groups and often centered on cultural and religious events, these dinners celebrate the richness and diversity of the Porter’s community.
