At Miss Porter’s School, we prepare students to shape a changing world by providing leadership opportunities that encourage them to speak up, step up and lead with confidence.

As a Porter’s student, you’ll learn to lead. How? Inside the classroom, on the field, and beyond, you’ll apply outside-the-box thinking to complex problems. You’ll work closely with other students to refine and build on your ideas. And you’ll use your voice to weigh in on important decisions and turn your ideas into action. You’ll grow into a confident, courageous and tenacious young adult ready to apply your expertise and unique perspective to igniting the change you want to see in the world.

LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Across every corner of our campus, you’ll find opportunities to lead. In addition to serving as the head of a club or student organization, you can run for student council, participate in alliances or affinity groups, sit on committees, and more.

NOVA NINE

Leading with passion and purpose

The Nova Nine are senior student leaders who work with Porter’s staff and fellow students to support and advocate for student needs and overall wellness. They lead schoolwide events and initiatives that build belonging and help create a welcoming Porter’s community where every student can thrive.

The Student Council is made up of elected representatives from each grade. Council members lead class meetings and meet to discuss student and academic affairs.

Cultivating a supportive environment for all

Junior Advisors help new students make the transition to life at Porter’s. They serve as role models and peer counselors, helping students become their best and boldest selves.

Equity & Inclusion Organization (E&I Org) leaders develop activities that educate and engage all of us on topics of diversity and inclusion. They create spaces that foster empathy, uplift diverse voices and build connection across identities.
